Yes, a 200-hour YTT program is formulated specifically for beginners. It provides a basic yet foundational knowledge of yoga philosophy, anatomy, asanas (postures), pranayama (breath techniques), and teaching methodology. These programs are intended to develop your knowledge and confidence at your own pace, even if your past experience with yoga is limited.
A 200-hour yoga teacher training program offers numerous benefits to all levels of yogis and practitioners, which include: A more personal relationship to the yoga practice. Comprehensive knowledge of yoga philosophy and history. Applicable knowledge of yoga anatomy and physiology. Ability to create and teach yoga classes. Expanded self-awareness and personal growth. An opportunity to connect with other yogis. As well as eligibility to register with Yoga Alliance (RYT 200) which is a respected and widely recognized credential.
While some places do not legally require a 200-hour YTT certification, especially from a Yoga Alliance registered school, most studios/gym's require and/or highly recommend it. Having this demonstrates a certain level of training and professionalism that is recognized by studios/gym's and many insurance agencies.
Usually a 200-hour yoga teacher training program in Bali includes a combination of theory and practice. Normal class format will include: Lectures and discussions of yoga philosophy, anatomy etc. Practice sessions for asanas and proper alignment. Guided meditation and morning and evening pranayama sessions. Interactive workshop style class sessions where you will discuss teaching methodology. Group discussions and peer teaching. One on one feedback from experienced teachers. In class experience of teaching which is critical for your teaching learning experience.
There are various career opportunities that you can find after completing your 200-hour yoga teacher training program, which includes: Instructing yoga classes at studios, gyms, or community centers. Offering yoga lessons one-on-one. Facilitating yoga retreats and workshops. Generating content online for yoga. Incorporating yoga into other wellness practices. Offering classes in wellness centers.
Class sizes can vary based on the schools and institutions. Smaller class sizes (around 10-20 participants) are advantageous because of the ability to give each individual more individualized attention. Studios will also have larger classes, creating more cost-effectiveness, yet potentially detracting from the intensity of systematic feedback and individualized attention. The program should declare what the class sizes will be before you choose the program.
The cost will vary widely depending on location, lodging, meals, and the reputation of the school. In Bali, you will see programs that are $1200-$4000 USD. Being that pricing will vary, you can even contact us directly in case you need a quotation for accurate pricing.
A generally accepted, yet not regimented, age restriction exists. Most programs do require that participants be 18 years or older. The most important thing is that the participant is mature enough to tolerate the intensity of the program.
The most accepted certification is the "RYT 200" offered by the Yoga Alliance. If the program is Yoga Alliance registered, you will then be considered a Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT). You also may have "in school" certifications that may only apply locally or be recognized by a certain attending organization.
